'Information Security for Civil Society'
Fall 2013 - Spring 2014

Civil society, ranging from individuals to all kinds of non-state and non-market actors, is today in so many ways under informational siege from both state and market - from surveillance and data mining to algorithmic framing. The five URBSEC seminars during the academic year 2013-2014 engaged the issue of information security for civil society from different disciplinary perspectives. The series included URBSEC-affiliated researchers from University of Gothenburg and from Chalmers University of Technology, URBSEC:s first visiting guest professor Lech Janczewski from New Zealand, and Dr Maria Angela Ferrario on temporary visit from the UK. In connection with the seminar series, the yearly URBSEC conference was devoted to the same theme - check under the heading "URBSEC Conferences" for more information!
